Gary A. Bolles is an internationally-recognized speaker and writer on the impact of exponential technologies such as AI on the near future of work, learning, and the organization.
Bolles is the Chair for the Future of Work for Singularity University, a global learning and innovation community using exponential technologies to tackle the world’s biggest challenges. He leads the organization’s efforts to empower a global community with the mindset and skillset to create an abundant future of work and learning, focusing on strategies for helping individuals, organizations, communities and countries to thrive in the new digital work economy.
As a partner in the boutique consulting agency Charrette LLC, he helps clients to identify and understand trends affecting organizations and markets, through strategic conferences, innovation consulting, strategy design charrettes, and collaborative initiatives. Recent initiatives range from advisory services for the governments of Canada and Brazil, to a workshop for refugee youth in Amman, Jordan. Past initiatives include co-founding: SoCap, socialcapitalmarkets.net, the premier conference for business with a purpose; DGREE.org, The Future of Higher Education; Silicon Valley Meets the UN; and Closing The Gap: Strategies for an Inclusive Economy. Bolles was also co-founder of the US Broadband Coalition, which brought together 137 organizations to develop a draft broadband strategy for America.
Charrette’s main project today is Fulcrum, a global initiative to develop actionable strategies for a human-centric future of work, beginning with its first event, FulcrumConference.com, in Detroit in November 2019, in partnership with the Ford Foundation.
As co-founder of eParachute.com, he helps job-hunters & career changers, from youth to 50+, with online and in-person programs inspired by “What Color Is Your Parachute?”, the best-selling career book of all time. Trained as a career counselor at the age of 19, he is an expert on world’s most effective methods for managing work transitions. Bolles has also authored nine video courses on the future of work and learning for LinkedIn Learning, and publishes regularly on LinkedIn.
Bolles is the former editorial director for six technology publications, including Interactive Week, Yahoo! Internet Life, and Network Computing, with a deep background on networking and telecommunications. He is the former Chief Operating Officer for Evolve Software, former VP Marketing for Network Products Corporation, a former strategic innovation advisor for Nokia, and has advised countless startups.
